About us
EPS supply quality plumbing supplies to trade and retail customers in and around Cumbria.
Established in 2003, we are a Cumbrian based, family-run, independent plumbing and heating merchants with vast experience.
Our vision is to offer first class service through knowledge, expertise & support to our customers. We pride ourselves on our huge and varied stock profile and our friendly and helpful staff makes us your one stop shop for all your plumbing and heating needs.

Sustainable Home Centre
Air Source Heat Pump Showroom and Training Centre
Here at EPS we recognise the huge role our industry has to play in carbon reduction. After many years of designing and stocking underfloor heating products it became apparent that there was a large skills gap of plumbing and heating engineers able to install Air Source Heat Pumps.
In 2022, we opened our Sustainable Home Centre in Ambleside, which is a training Centre and Showroom for Air Source Heat Pumps. We are proud to have trained over 150 local installers and continue to hold regular training days.
Our Sustainable Home Centre Showroom allows all our customers to see, hear, touch and feel Air Source Heat Pumps. We can also advise on how we can assist in accessing the £7,500 government BUS grant towards your installation.

We have an Expressions Bathroom Showroom in all our branch locations. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff can assist with Bathrooms for any budget and we can provide full design & support utilising CAD & imagery.
Working with local installers, we can guide and support you through the entire process and eliminate any stress.

Our History
2003

The first EPS branch opened in Barrow-In-Furness in May 2003 with Stuart, who retired from the Company in 2016 and Keith who is still the Manager today. We celebrated our new exciting venture with Dom Perignon Champagne at 8am then waited excitedly for the customers to arrive, which thankfully they did after a short time.
Kendal followed shortly in January 2005. Craig has been with the team from the start and is now the Branch Manager and a trusted assistant. We were well known in the town due to previous jobs and the trading relationships we built up over the years. These relationships have thrived and our valued customers continue to support us.

We opened our Carlisle branch with Jim and Kevin joining the family to increase our Branch number to 3. This branch was our first in the North of the County and covered the North of Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway. Our Team was again well known within the city with a proven track record in the Plumbing and Heating Industry.
Due to continued expansion and growth we set up our Finance and Support Team in 2007, with Allison, who is now a Director in the Business. Allison has in fact been involved with EPS even before we opened in Barrow as she supported the setup of our Software prior to opening. In fact 1/3 of our staff have been with us more than 10 years so it can’t be a bad place to work!

The Ambleside branch opens and is based in the most beautiful surroundings in the heart of the Lake District. Mark now runs this branch after initially starting with us in our Barrow branch in 2008.
Due to the success of the initial small unit we expanded into a larger premises in September 2017 This has enabled us to offer a wider range of products to service related trades, hopefully saving them a trip back into Kendal for supplies! Our free delivery service also goes down well in this area.
All of our branches have inspirational bathroom showrooms and offer Computer Aided Designs (CAD) to enable you to see your dream Bathroom in 3D. The quality of ideas and designs from our dedicated Showroom Team is a fantastic service available to all our customers. We can offer an individual service tailored to any budget.

Our most recent branch in Whitehaven, which we opened in 2014, ensures we can now service all corners of Cumbria and are Cumbria’s only true Independent Merchant.
The branch is conveniently placed within the town and occupies a lovely elevated position and we have an experienced Manager in Anthony.
As with all branches we have great stocks of everyday products and a team of people who are dedicated to servicing your Plumbing and Heating needs.
In February 2017 we were delighted to launch Relion, our own Brand quality product to the market, designed and supplied by a leading industry manufacturer. Initially the product was Heating Controls and Ancillaries but this will expand and will be joined by other ranges in the very near future. Watch this space.

Sustainable Home Centre Opens! We opened our SHC in September 2022 in partnership with market leading supplier Daikin. The Centre is a showroom and training facility with an aim to help Cumbria successfully transition into zero carbon.
Expressions Launch! In Februrary 2024 we launched our Expressions brand. Rebranding all our showrooms and releasing an exciting new brochure!
